Public programmes

Faro Santander’s Public Programmes encompass a series of concerts, film seasons, talks and performances that create an ongoing space for meeting and conversation. The programme focuses on live practices, both local and international, offering different ways of engaging with Faro and prompting reflection on the present through art and culture.

Each season, the Public Programmes explore a range of formats, from sound to poetry and from discourse to performance, creating resonances and new connections through which knowledge can be shared and produced. By extending Faro’s exhibition programme, the Public Programmes broaden the themes, sensibilities, artists and ideas explored throughout each season.

Each activity creates new connections with the exhibitions, the collection, the architecture and the city, inviting audiences to take part in an ongoing conversation around the key debates of our time.

Opening Programmes

During Faro Santander's inaugural week, the Public Programmes will unfold a series of talks, concerts and participatory activities around the centre's opening. These activities invite visitors to discover Faro as a meeting space for art, architecture and music at the heart of the city.

Thursdays at Faro

Every week, Faro hosts a series of activities spanning music, literature, film, performance, poetry and contemporary thought. Thursdays regularly provide opportunities to meet artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers, opening up new ways of engaging with the exhibitions and the collection while creating a space for exchange and the production of knowledge.

Faro Specials

Every quarter, Faro Santander presents thematic specials that intensively expand the centre's programming. Conceived as peak moments of gathering, exchange and debate, artists, writers, scientists, filmmakers, choreographers, theorists and musicians come together around a specific discursive theme. These cycles offer a thorough view of each season and its possible ramifications.

Activations

Extending into other spaces across the centre and beyond, the Activations programme complements Faro’s wider programme by inviting artists to intervene in different areas of the museum and its surroundings. From performative visits to workshops and sound walks, these site-specific activities create opportunities for exchange between Faro and communities across Santander and Cantabria.
