Faro Santander opening party

The opening of Faro aims to be a celebration open to the public, featuring music, light and games to celebrate the arrival of a new art centre in Santander.

The event will begin at 17:00 with the Verbena de Juegos in the Jardines de Pereda, and will continue with the light and sound programme Faro se enciende, which will include concerts by the Reina Sofía School of Music Ensemble, Casapalma and Repion.

Verbena de Juegos: activities, workshops and surprises

Verbena de Juegos is a celebration to light up Llamita through play, creation and a collective lighting filled with colours and lights.

It is also an exhibition, a rehearsal, a premiere, an artistic street party, a shared picnic, a playful landscape in the making

On 12 September, from 17:00 to 20:30, in the Jardines de Pereda, everyone is invited to the opening of Llamita, Faro Santander’s new space dedicated to childhood, play, creation and shared moments.

Upon arrival, families will find a half-set table, unfurled bunting and materials in different shapes and colours. Elements that will act as an invitation to interact with the surroundings.

During the celebration, the rhythm will be set by games, creative lantern-making workshops, and small rituals that will emerge throughout the afternoon. At the end of the verbena, all the lanterns will be lit, creating a landscape of small luminous fires that will symbolically ignite Llamita, marking the birth of the new space. After the lighting, the celebration will continue with concerts and other surprises.

Don’t forget to bring a snack so you can stay longer at the Verbena de Juegos!

Faro se enciende

Faro Santander's opening party will continue with a musical programme blending academic music with contemporary and traditional Cantabrian sounds. As the music plays, a light show on the façade will accompany the celebration.

The concerts will begin with a performance by the Reina Sofía School of Music. The 15-piece string Ensemble will perform Faro's collaborative symphony and will continue with Vivaldi's The Four Seasons

.

Casapalma will then take the stage, offering a fusion concert of traditional mountain folklore and electronic music, accompanied by dancers from the Brañaflor collective, turning the event into a collective celebration.

The band Repion, founded by Cantabrian sisters Marina and Teresa Iñesta, will bring their unique, independent sound to the stage. Their proposal stands out for the energy of their live shows, and the power of their guitars and lyrics.

At the end of Repion's concert, the Ensemble will return to the stage to perform the collaborative symphony once again, this time accompanied by the light show on Faro's façade—designed by lighting designer Pedro Chamizo—providing the perfect finishing touch to the night.

Continue exploring Faro Santander’s programme with activities designed for all audiences. Opportunities to get closer to art, learn, share and participate in different ways.
