Mexican film series

Los Jueves de Faro launches on thursday 24 september with the Mexican film series The invention of modern Mexico: art, film and identity. In collaboration with the Mexican Cultural Institute in Spain and the Filmoteca de Cantabria Mario Camus, Faro presents a series of screenings centred on the Santander Gelman Collection.
Jacques Gelman was a film producer, and his connection to cinema permeates the collection he assembled—a natural starting point with much to explore.
The series will begin with an opening lecture entitled The invention of modern Mexico: art, film and identity, followed by screenings of ten feature films across two venues: on thursdays at 7.00 pm in the Faro Auditorium, and on fridays at 7.00 pm at the Filmoteca de Cantabria Mario Camus. Admission is free, and tickets will be available from 30 September on both institutions’ websites and at their box offices.
