Carlos Monleón, Medicina de Luna

As part of the Special: Garden of Hyenas, artist Carlos Monleón presents Medicina de Luna (Moon Medicine), a tasting-dérive through a selection of wines. A journey through the radiant rhythms of the sun and the moon.

A cadence of sips in which the visceral blossoms like a mirror, and the stomach becomes the mediator of the symmetry between sky and earth. ¨ And when I say ‘the earth’, I mean all the earths, stars and suns in the heavens and on the ground, as well as all the stars, suns and earths of the microbial solar system.¨

Carlos Monleón explores sensation and perception, from the biological to the social and performative. His work looks at how different bodies process and reflect social and ecological systems. He bases his practice on collaborative research with scientists, musicians, artists, and public institutions. He has worked on group projects at Seventeen Gallery and Auto Italia in London, CA2M in Móstoles, La Casa Encendida and Matadero Madrid, and HIAP in Helsinki. His solo work has been shown at LUMA in Arles, Z33 in Hasselt, Kai Art Center in Tallinn, Ars Electronica in Linz, Centre d’Art La Panera in Lleida, and at the Istanbul and Porto Design Biennials.
