Inhabiting colour. Children’s workshop with artist Amaia Bregel

What happens when painting leaves the canvas and begins to occupy space? In this workshop, we will explore colour and discover how it can become something we can walk through, explore and even inhabit, as well as observe.

The activity will begin with a visit to Marisma exhibition: Faro Santander Creation Grant Projects, where we will learn about the creative process behind Ludarquías, a project by cantabrian artist Amaia Bregel. From there, we will reflect on the importance of play as a tool for artistic research and on how experimenting with materials can open up new possibilities for imagining, creating and building.

At Llamita, we will explore the processes involved in making sculpture through play, observation and hands-on activities. We will work with planes of colour made from different materials to investigate how a seemingly flat surface can unfold into space, create volume and interact with those who observe and transform it.

The workshop invites participants to try things out, combine materials, assemble, take apart and rebuild, with curiosity and experimentation at the heart of learning. It is a collective experience for exploring geometry, colour and space, and discovering new ways to build, imagine and inhabit colour.

Duration: 120 minutes.
Capacity: 25 children.
Audience: Children aged 8–14.
