Hitting rock bottom: A sound walk with Iribarren & De la Riva

In 1940, artist Leonora Carrington was admitted to Dr Morales’ Sanatorium, marking a turning point in her life and work.

Hitting Rock Bottom is an invitation to return to this place through a sound walk around the park where the sanatorium once stood, offering a deeper exploration of Carrington’s universe. Expanding on The Symptomatic Surreal: Leonora Carrington and connecting the exhibition with its surroundings, the duo Iribarren & De la Riva brings together narration, performance, soundscapes and participatory actions. The memory of the site merges with the contemporary life of the park, inviting us to explore themes including transformation, trauma, hope and imagination.
